The Discipline of Patience [Real Estate Dev #185]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“Endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” — Romans 5:4.
Devotional
Patience is one of development's most necessary—and most expensive—virtues.
Projects can take years from initial concept to completion. During that time, approvals, financing, construction, leasing, and market conditions may all require waiting.
Impatience often creates expensive mistakes.
You buy before due diligence is complete.
You accept weak terms simply to close.
You push a design before critical questions are resolved.
You become frustrated with people whose timelines you cannot control.
Romans teaches that endurance shapes character.
That means waiting is not merely something happening to you. God can use it to form something within you.
Patience produces steadiness.
It gives you time to see more clearly.
It protects relationships from unnecessary pressure.
It prevents urgency from becoming recklessness.
Patience does not mean refusing to act.
There are moments when decisive leadership is necessary.
But wise developers learn the difference between moving quickly because conditions require it and moving quickly because waiting feels uncomfortable.
God is never anxious.
He is never hurried.
The more deeply you trust Him, the less likely you are to allow impatience to control your decisions.
Reflection Questions
Where does impatience most often appear in my work?
Has rushing ever created avoidable problems for me?
What is God developing in me through my current waiting season?
Action Step
Before pushing one delayed issue forward today, ask whether action is truly required or whether patience would produce a better outcome.
Prayer
Father, develop patience in me. Help me move decisively when wisdom requires action and wait faithfully when the timing is not yet right. Amen.
