The Frustration of Limits [TDPOW #69]

Scripture: Psalm 103:14 — “For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”

Devotional

You have limits—time, energy, capacity, knowledge, emotional bandwidth. Yet many workplaces operate as if limits don’t exist, pushing people to go faster, do more, and be available constantly. This pressure can leave you feeling guilty or inadequate when you simply can’t keep up.

God, however, knows your frame. He remembers that you are dust. He is not surprised by your need for rest, your mental fatigue, or your emotional limits. These boundaries are not defects; they are part of being human. When respected, they drive you to depend on Him rather than yourself.

Instead of despising your limits, you can learn to see them as invitations—to prioritize, to say no wisely, to ask for help, and to release the illusion of control. In a world that worships overextension, choosing to live within God-given limits is an act of faith.

Reflection Questions:

1. Where are you currently pushing past healthy limits in your work or schedule?

2. How might honoring your God-given limits actually increase your faith and trust in Him?

3. What adjustment—a boundary, conversation, or habit—could help you work more sustainably?

Prayer:

Father, thank You that You know my frame and understand my limits. Forgive me for trying to live as if I were limitless. Teach me to work diligently within the boundaries You’ve given and to trust You with what I cannot do. Amen.
