Scripture: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4 (ESV)
Devotional
Misaligned expectations are one of the primary causes of frustration in real estate. Clients often assume fast timelines, smooth transactions, perfect homes, and predictable outcomes. When expectations aren’t managed honestly, disappointment grows—and trust erodes.
Managing expectations is an act of integrity. It means telling clients the truth about potential obstacles, realistic timelines, pricing challenges, and common pitfalls. While it may feel uncomfortable to present hard realities, it protects your clients and builds lasting trust.
Clients would rather hear honest expectations up front than painful surprises later.
When you guide clients with clarity and compassion, you serve their best interests, not your own convenience. You reduce stress, prevent confusion, and create a calmer atmosphere throughout the transaction.
Honesty in expectations is one of the most loving things you can offer.
Reflection Questions:
· Do I communicate expectations clearly and proactively?
· Where might unrealistic expectations be forming with a client?
· How can I set people up for success through honesty?
Prayer
Lord, give me wisdom to communicate truth in a way that prepares and protects others. Help me care for my clients by guiding them with clarity, compassion, and integrity. Amen.
