The Long View of Client Relationships [Commercial Broker #65]

The Long View of Client Relationships [Commercial Broker #65]

Scripture

“Love never ends.” — 1 Corinthians 13:8 (ESV)

Devotional

Deals have timelines. Relationships don’t have to. If you only engage clients when a transaction is active, you’re limiting your impact—and often your future opportunities. Taking the long view means valuing relationships beyond immediate business.

Following up after closing, checking in during quiet seasons, sharing helpful insights with no strings attached, or simply asking how things are going months later communicates that people matter to you. Over time, this builds trust, loyalty, and genuine friendship.

God’s love is enduring, not transactional. When your care for clients reflects that—outlasting the deal—you show them a glimpse of His heart. Some of your most meaningful gospel opportunities may come years after a transaction, when trust is deep and hearts are open.

Reflection Questions

Which past clients might God be prompting me to reconnect with, purely to care—not to sell?

What simple habits could help me maintain long-term relational touchpoints?

Prayer

Lord, help me see relationships, not just deals. Show me how to care for clients over the long haul, reflecting Your enduring love rather than a transactional mindset. Amen.
