Scripture: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” — James 1:19 (ESV)
Devotional
One of the greatest gifts you can give a client is your ears. Listening is ministry. Real estate clients often feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure. They need someone who will truly hear them—someone who understands their concerns, their story, and their motivations.
When you listen well, you calm fears, earn trust, and reflect the heart of Christ. Jesus listened deeply to people—He heard not just their words, but their hearts. He noticed what others overlooked. He slowed down enough to understand before responding.
As a broker, you have opportunities every day to listen with intention. To let clients express their hopes. To let them process their worries. To give them space to breathe. You are not just facilitating a transaction; you are caring for a person made in God’s image.
Slow down today. Listen more deeply than usual. It will make more impact than you realize.
Reflection Questions:
· Do I listen to understand, or to respond?
· What client or colleague needs my attentive listening today?
· What distractions keep me from being fully present?
Prayer
Lord, give me a heart that listens like You. Help me hear beneath the surface and respond with patience, wisdom, and compassion. Let my listening be a reflection of Your love. Amen.
