Scripture: “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” — James 1:19
Devotional
In a profession built on analysis and advice, it’s easy to prioritize speaking over listening. But one of the most Christlike things you can offer your clients is your presence—your full attention, without hurry or judgment. Listening is a spiritual discipline. It slows us down. It honors the other. It creates space for trust.
When you listen well, you hear more than financial facts—you hear fears, goals, grief, and hope. You understand what really matters. And in a noisy world, that kind of attention is rare—and deeply healing.
Jesus was a master listener. He noticed people. He asked questions. He responded to the heart. You can do the same in your meetings, check-ins, and follow-ups. Sometimes the best advice starts with silence.
Reflection Questions:
Do you make space to truly listen to your clients’ stories—not just their statements?
How does listening open doors for ministry in your daily work?
What distractions can you remove to be more present with those you serve?
Prayer
Jesus, help me to slow down and listen well. Let my presence reflect Your compassion and patience. Use my ears as much as my words to bring peace and wisdom.
