Scripture
“Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” — Habakkuk 2:2 (ESV)
Devotional
Documenting details—notes from calls, changes to terms, meeting summaries, next steps—rarely feels glamorous. Yet good documentation prevents confusion, protects relationships, and provides clarity when memories fade.
In commercial real estate, misunderstandings can cost time, money, and trust. A simple recap email after a call (“Here’s what we agreed, and here are the next steps”) can prevent frustration later. Keeping accurate records of conversations and decisions isn’t just good business practice; it’s a form of service.
God models this by giving us His Word in writing—clear, preserved, and reliable. In a smaller way, your written clarity reflects His heart for order and truth. You help others “run” with confidence because what they’re running on is clear.
You may never be thanked for thorough documentation, but people will feel the difference when confusion is rare and clarity is normal.
Reflection Questions
Do I consistently follow up key conversations with written summaries and confirmations?
Where could better documentation reduce stress for me and those I serve?
Prayer
Lord, help me be faithful in the “invisible” work of documentation. Use my notes, emails, and records to protect relationships, preserve clarity, and honor You. Amen.
