The Strength of a Teachable Spirit [Residential Broker #171]

Scripture

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6.

Devotional

A teachable spirit is one of the greatest indicators of long-term excellence. No matter how experienced or successful you become, humility keeps you growing. Pride closes the door to improvement, but humility opens it wide.

A teachable spirit says:

  • “I can learn from anyone.”

  • “I can always improve.”

  • “I don’t know everything.”

  • “Feedback helps me grow.”

When you approach your craft with humility, grace flows. You become more adaptable, more insightful, and more effective. Clients feel more supported. Colleagues feel respected. And God blesses your willingness to learn.

Jesus—though Lord of all—modeled humility by learning, listening, and submitting to the Father’s will. If He demonstrated humility, how much more should we?

A teachable spirit will always take you further than talent alone.

Reflection Questions

How open am I to correction or feedback?

When was the last time I learned something from someone less experienced?

Where is God calling me to be more teachable?

Prayer

Lord, give me a humble and teachable heart. Remove pride and grant me grace to grow continually in wisdom and skill. Amen.
