The Test of Waiting [Real Estate Dev #29]

Scripture: “But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” — Romans 8:25 (ESV)

Devotional

Every developer has faced seasons of waiting—waiting on approvals, investors, construction timelines, or decisions from others. But there’s another kind of waiting that tests the soul: when you’re faithfully working but the breakthrough hasn’t come. Romans 8:25 reminds us that waiting is not weakness—it is a sign of hope. If you’re waiting, it means you still believe something is coming.

Biblical waiting is not passive. It’s an active trust that keeps you anchored in God’s promises, even when nothing seems to be moving. It means resisting the urge to force a shortcut or compromise under pressure. It’s the discipline of patience that believes God is working behind the scenes, preparing both you and the outcome.

In the development world, delays can cost money, momentum, and morale. But in the Kingdom of God, delays often produce something more valuable: character. Waiting purifies motives, deepens prayer, and clarifies what truly matters. God is never late—but He is rarely early by our standards. He knows exactly when the door should open and the path should clear.

If you’re in a season of delay, don’t despair. Keep showing up. Keep praying. Keep planning. But most of all, keep trusting. God’s timing is not a barrier—it’s a blessing in disguise.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where am I being called to wait patiently right now?

  • How is God using this waiting to shape my character?

  • What does it look like to be faithful while I wait?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to wait with patience and faith. Help me trust that You are at work even when I can’t see results. Grow my character in this season and prepare me for what’s ahead. Amen.
