The Wisdom of Asking God for Specific Insight [Commercial Broker #152]

Scripture

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” — Jeremiah 33:3 (ESV)

Devotional

Many believers pray general prayers—“Lord, bless this deal”—but Scripture invites you into deeper, more specific petitions. When you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain, you can ask God directly: “Show me what I’m missing.” “Reveal any danger I haven’t seen.” “Give me clarity about how to advise my client.”

God is not offended by specific requests. He welcomes them. Throughout Scripture, His people asked bold, pointed questions—and He answered with clarity, strategy, or peace. God told Joshua exactly how to conquer Jericho, gave Joseph insight to interpret dreams, and revealed tactical wisdom to David again and again.

Asking for specific insight doesn’t guarantee that God will reveal every detail, but it postures your heart to listen. Sometimes He gives a new idea. Sometimes He gives a check in your spirit. Sometimes He brings a person to mind who can help. Sometimes He simply gives peace about the next step.

Discernment grows when prayer becomes a dialogue, not a monologue.

Reflection Questions

When facing complexity, do I pray vaguely—or do I ask God specific questions?

What specific insight do I need from God for a decision on my desk today?

Prayer

Father, I call to You for insight. Reveal what is hidden, warn me where I’m blind, and guide me with Your wisdom in every decision I face. Amen.
