The Wisdom to Slow Down [Real Estate Dev #154]

Development creates urgency.
Another buyer may be pursuing the land. A tenant wants an answer. An investor expects a decision. A seller sets a deadline. Rising costs create pressure to move.
Sometimes speed is necessary.
But urgency can also become the enemy of wisdom.
Pressure narrows your thinking. It can cause you to overlook warning signs, accept assumptions without sufficient examination, or agree to terms you would reject under calmer circumstances.
One of the most valuable disciplines a developer can develop is the willingness to slow down when something important remains unclear.
That takes courage.
Slowing down may frustrate a broker. It may disappoint a partner. It may even cost you an opportunity.
But losing a deal is sometimes far less expensive than entering the wrong one.
Jesus never appeared controlled by other people's urgency. He moved according to His Father's direction.
You can do the same.
When pressure rises, deliberately create space between the demand and your decision. Pray. Review the facts. Seek counsel. Ask what has not yet been answered.
Wisdom does not always move slowly.
But wisdom refuses to be hurried simply because someone else has created a deadline.

• Where am I currently feeling pressured to move faster than I should?
• What warning signs become easier to miss when I am rushed?
Action Step
Identify one decision where you feel significant pressure and intentionally create enough space to pray and evaluate it clearly before responding.
Prayer
Lord, give me patience when pressure pushes me toward premature decisions. Help me recognize when to move quickly and when wisdom requires me to wait. Let Your direction determine my pace. Amen.
