Trusting God When You Feel Inadequate [Attorney #154]

Scripture

My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Devotional

There are moments in every legal career when you feel inadequate.

A complex matter stretches beyond your confidence. A responsibility feels larger than your ability. A situation exposes limitations you would rather ignore.

In a profession built around competence and expertise, weakness can feel uncomfortable or even threatening. Yet Scripture reveals an important truth: God often works most powerfully through your limitations.

Feeling inadequate reminds you that your ultimate strength does not come from yourself.

God never asks you to rely solely on your own ability. He invites you to depend on His grace, wisdom, and strength. Your limitations become opportunities to trust Him more deeply.

This does not mean you stop preparing or growing professionally. It means you stop believing that everything depends entirely on you.

Humility allows you to acknowledge weakness honestly while still moving forward faithfully.

God’s grace is not reserved for your strongest moments. It is especially present in the places where you feel insufficient.

Reflection Questions

• Where do I currently feel inadequate or uncertain?

• How might God be inviting me to depend on Him more deeply?

Action Step

When you feel uncertain or inadequate today, pause briefly and ask God specifically for wisdom and strength instead of relying solely on yourself.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me. Help me trust You in my weakness and depend on Your strength each day. Amen.
