Trusting God With Unfinished Relationships [TDPOW #185]
Scripture
Philippians 1:6 — “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Devotional
Not every relationship at work will resolve neatly. Some will remain complicated, some will end abruptly, and some will leave questions you never get to answer. It’s easy to carry regret, “what ifs,” or a sense of failure over unfinished stories.
Paul’s confidence was not in his own ability to “finish” people, but in God’s faithfulness: the One who began a good work in them would complete it. The same is true for your coworkers—and for you. God’s work is not limited to the time you share an office or a project.
Trusting God with unfinished relationships means you do what you can—love, pray, forgive, speak truth, ask forgiveness—and then release the rest to Him. He is able to keep working in hearts long after your paths diverge. Your job is faithfulness; His is completion.
Reflection Questions
Is there a past or present work relationship that feels unresolved or unfinished to you?
Have you done what you can before God to walk in integrity in that relationship?
What would it look like to entrust that person and situation to God’s ongoing work?
Prayer
Father, thank You that You finish what You start. I bring You the unfinished relationships and unresolved stories from my work. Help me be faithful with my part and trust You with the rest. Continue Your good work in them and in me. Amen.
