Trusting God with What You Cannot Fix [Healthcare Professional #132]
Scripture
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5.
Devotional
One of the hardest realities in healthcare is accepting that not every illness can be cured, not every patient can be saved, and not every situation has a satisfying resolution.
Those realities can leave even the most experienced caregiver questioning whether they have done enough.
God never asked you to carry responsibility for outcomes that belong to Him. He calls you to faithfully use the gifts, knowledge, and opportunities He has entrusted to you while recognizing that He alone remains sovereign over life and healing.
Trusting God does not diminish your commitment to excellence. Instead, it frees you from carrying burdens you were never created to bear.
Do your very best. Pray faithfully. Love deeply. Then place every outcome into the hands of the Great Physician.
Your responsibility ends where God's sovereignty begins.
Reflection Questions
What situation am I still carrying that belongs to God?
Why is it difficult for me to surrender outcomes?
How can trusting God bring greater peace?
Action Step
Pray specifically for one patient or situation that feels beyond your control, intentionally surrendering it to God.
Prayer
Lord, help me trust You with the situations I cannot change. Teach me to faithfully serve while resting in Your wisdom and Your perfect care. Amen.
