Scripture: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” — Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Devotional
Vision is essential in real estate development. Without it, projects lack direction, teams drift, and decisions become reactive. But Scripture reminds us that not all vision is created equal. Proverbs 29:18 teaches that vision without divine grounding leads to loss, instability, and ultimately destruction. A developer may possess extraordinary foresight and still drift from God's will if that vision is not submitted to His truth.
True vision does not begin with market data or trend reports—it begins with God. He is the source of wisdom, order, beauty, and purpose. When your plans are shaped by prayer, guided by Scripture, and evaluated through the lens of eternity, your vision serves something greater than profit or prestige. It becomes a tool for stewardship, for blessing others, and for honoring the One who entrusted you with influence in the first place.
God-honoring vision is not just about scale or aesthetics; it's about motive. Are you building something that reflects His character—integrity, justice, hospitality, peace? Do your projects make space for human flourishing, or simply generate financial return? Vision submitted to God seeks impact beyond what can be measured on a spreadsheet. It considers not only what can be done, but what should be done in light of God’s purposes.
You’ve been given an incredible privilege—the ability to shape places where people will live, work, gather, and grow. Ask God to refine your vision so it does not merely reflect your ambition, but His glory. He delights in directing your plans, aligning your creativity with His righteousness, and using your work as a testimony of what it means to build with both excellence and humility.
Reflection Questions:
Is my current vision aligned with God’s character and purposes?
What voices shape how I define success?
How can I more intentionally seek God’s wisdom before casting vision?
Prayer
Lord, refine my vision. Help me to see beyond profit and reputation, and to build what reflects Your heart. Align my plans with Your Word, and make my work an expression of worship and stewardship. Amen.
