Walking in God's Presence [Healthcare Professional #126]

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." — Joshua 1:9.
Devotional
Healthcare environments can feel overwhelming. There are moments when you walk into a patient's room unsure of what you'll encounter, face conversations that require wisdom beyond your own, or carry the emotional weight of another family's suffering. In those moments, it's easy to feel alone.
Yet one of God's greatest promises is His continual presence.
God did not promise Joshua an easy assignment, but He promised to go with him wherever he led. The same promise applies to you. Whether you serve in an emergency department, clinic, operating room, rehabilitation center, hospice, or long-term care facility, the Lord walks beside you. He is present during routine appointments and critical emergencies alike.
Recognizing God's presence changes the atmosphere of your workday. Instead of carrying every burden yourself, you begin each task knowing Christ is working alongside you. His presence provides courage when you're afraid, wisdom when you're uncertain, and comfort when your heart grows heavy.
Today, remember that you never enter a patient's room alone. The Great Physician goes before you.

How often do I consciously remember that God is with me during my workday?
When do I most need His presence?
How would my attitude change if I acknowledged His presence throughout the day?
Action Step
Before entering each patient's room today, quietly remind yourself, "Lord, thank You for being with me."
Prayer
Father, thank You that I never serve alone. Help me become continually aware of Your presence throughout my day. Strengthen me with Your courage, guide me with Your wisdom, and allow Your peace to fill every place I serve. Amen.
