When a Relationship Becomes Toxic [TDPOW #181]

Devotional
Not all relationships can or should be maintained in the same way. Occasionally, a relationship at work may become toxic—manipulative, persistently dishonest, abusive, or consistently divisive. In such cases, wisdom may involve distance as well as prayer.
Paul warns the church to watch out for divisive, destructive people and, when necessary, to avoid them. This doesn’t justify hatred or gossip, but it does recognize that boundaries and even separation can be part of wise stewardship and protection.
In the workplace, this may look like limiting unnecessary interactions, involving appropriate authorities or HR, or in extreme cases, seeking transfer or a new job. As you navigate these painful situations, seek counsel from mature believers and remember that protecting your soul and integrity honors God.

Have you sought wise counsel and considered healthy boundaries or next steps?
How can you guard your heart from hatred while still pursuing necessary protection?
Prayer
Lord, You know the relational dynamics I face. Give me discernment to see clearly when a situation is truly toxic. Show me healthy boundaries and wise steps, and guard my heart from bitterness as I seek to honor You. Amen.
