Scripture: “Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.” — Proverbs 16:8

Devotional

There may come moments in your accounting career when integrity carries a tangible cost. It might mean declining a questionable request, resisting pressure from leadership, or losing favor because you refused to bend the truth. In those moments, righteousness can feel expensive.

Scripture does not promise that integrity will always be rewarded immediately. Instead, it promises that righteousness is worth more than unjust gain. God measures success differently than the marketplace does. What appears to be loss in the short term may be faithfulness in eternity.

Choosing integrity when it costs something strengthens your spiritual foundation. It clarifies who you serve and what truly matters. When you refuse to compromise, you affirm that your identity and security are rooted in Christ, not in approval, income, or advancement.

Integrity may narrow certain opportunities, but it widens your peace. When you lay your head down at night knowing you have honored God, you experience a confidence no paycheck can provide.

Today, remember that righteousness is never wasted. Even when integrity costs you something visible, it is building something eternal.

Reflection Questions

  1. Have you ever faced a situation where integrity came at a personal cost?

  2. What helps you remain steady when faithfulness feels risky?

Prayer

Lord, give me courage when integrity costs something. Help me value righteousness above gain and trust You with the consequences. Amen.
