When No One Is Watching [Real Estate Dev #34]

Scripture: “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” — Proverbs 15:3 (ESV)

Devotional

Much of a developer’s work happens outside of public view. You may be making decisions behind closed doors, crafting deals quietly, or interacting with stakeholders who never see the full picture. It’s in these private moments that character is truly formed. Proverbs 15:3 reminds us that even when no one is watching, God sees all. Nothing is hidden from His gaze.

The temptation to let standards slip when there’s no audience is real. If no one will know, if it doesn’t “really hurt anyone,” if it speeds things up—why not? But every private decision leaves a spiritual footprint. And when God is your audience, integrity becomes a non-negotiable.

Living with integrity in secret creates strength in public. The most effective, respected, and spiritually grounded leaders are those who live the same way when no one is looking. It also frees you from the exhausting task of maintaining different versions of yourself. When you live with one face before God, you live in freedom.

Let your secret life reflect the same righteousness you hope others see. God is not watching to catch you in failure—He’s watching to form you in faithfulness.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where am I most tempted to relax my standards in private?

  • What would change if I remembered God sees every decision?

  • How does secret integrity prepare me for public influence?

Prayer

Father, help me live as though You’re my only audience—because You are. Keep me faithful in the quiet moments, and let my integrity in secret become the foundation of my witness. Amen.
