Few things frustrate a sales professional more than massive effort paired with disappointing results. You prospected diligently, held great conversations, built strong proposals—yet the deal didn’t close.
Proverbs reminds you that preparation matters (“the horse is made ready”), but victory belongs to the Lord. That means you control your inputs—your diligence, integrity, and excellence—but you do not control outcomes.
This frees you from two traps:
Pride when things go well (“I did this”).
Self-condemnation when things don’t (“I failed”).
Your responsibility is faithfulness. God’s responsibility is fruitfulness.And He often works in ways you cannot see—shaping you through the process, not just the results.
When outcomes disappoint, rest in this truth: your labor is seen, your effort matters, and God is working even in the “no’s.”
