When You Feel Spiritually Alone at Work [TDPOW #64]

Scripture: 1 Kings 19:10 — “…I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

Devotional

Elijah felt utterly alone—convinced he was the only one left who was faithful to God. In some workplaces, you may feel the same. You might be the only believer in your department, on your team, or in leadership. That isolation can be discouraging and wearying.

Yet in Elijah’s story, God gently corrected his perspective—there were thousands who had not bowed to idols. Elijah was not as alone as he felt. In your case, there may be other believers you don’t yet know about, or Christians in other workplaces walking similar paths. Above all, you are never truly alone because Christ is with you.

God often uses spiritually isolated believers in powerful ways—as quiet lights in dark places. Your faithfulness may feel small, but it matters deeply. God sees. Heaven notices. And your steady witness may be planting seeds you don’t yet see.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Do you ever feel spiritually alone in your workplace? How does that affect you?

  2. Have you asked God to reveal other believers or to provide encouragement from outside your workplace?

  3. How can you draw strength from the truth that Christ is always with you?

Prayer

Lord, when I feel spiritually alone at work, remind me that You are with me. Strengthen my heart to remain faithful. Surround me with encouragement from Your Word and Your people, and use my quiet witness for Your glory. Amen.
