When Your Boss Is Unreasonable [Sales Professional #144]

“Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.” — 1 Peter 2:18 (ESV)
Devotional
Working under a demanding or unfair manager is deeply challenging. Unreasonable expectations, inconsistent feedback, or harsh criticism can drain your joy and tempt you toward bitterness or rebellion.
Peter’s words are not easy: show respect even to the unjust. This doesn’t mean enabling abuse or staying silent in all cases; there are times to escalate concerns or seek a healthier environment. But as long as you are under that authority, you are called to honor Christ in how you respond.
Respect doesn’t equal agreement. It means speaking truth without slander, setting boundaries without contempt, and doing your work heartily as unto the Lord. God sees the hidden injustice and will deal with it in His time. Your role is to reflect Christ in the midst of it.

How has an unreasonable leader impacted my attitude and speech?
Am I responding in ways that honor Christ, or am I mirroring their behavior?
What wise, respectful steps might God be leading me to take?
Prayer
Lord, You see the challenges I face with my leader. Help me respond with respect, wisdom, and courage. Guard my heart from bitterness and show me when to speak, when to be silent, and if or when to move on. Amen.
