Wisdom in Changing Course [Real Estate Dev #177]

Scripture
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser.” — Proverbs 9:9.
Devotional
Strong leaders make decisions.
Wise leaders also change them when necessary.
Development projects evolve. New information emerges. Markets shift. Construction conditions change. Tenant needs develop. Regulations change.
A decision that was wise six months ago may no longer be wise today.
The challenge is pride.
Once leaders publicly commit to a direction, changing course can feel like admitting failure.
But stubborn consistency is not the same as faithfulness.
Wisdom remains teachable.
Changing direction does not automatically mean the original decision was wrong. It may simply mean the circumstances are now different.
Ask whether the original assumptions still hold.
Listen to new information.
Separate your ego from the decision.
Then make the adjustment the project requires.
There is strength in saying, “Based on what we know now, we need to change.”
Teams trust leaders who can acknowledge reality more than leaders who pretend nothing has changed.
God is not asking you to defend every past decision.
He is asking you to steward today's circumstances faithfully.
Reflection Questions
• Is pride making it difficult to reconsider any current decision?
• Have the assumptions behind one of my strategies changed?
• Does my team feel safe bringing me information that may require a change?
Action Step
Review one major project decision and ask whether the facts supporting it are still valid today.
Prayer
Lord, keep me teachable. Give me humility to change direction when wisdom requires it and courage to acknowledge when new information should lead to a different decision. Amen.
