Wisdom in Handling Conflict [Real Estate Dev #107]

Wisdom in Handling Conflict [Real Estate Dev #107]

Scripture

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1

Devotional

Conflict is unavoidable in development. Projects bring together different personalities, competing priorities, financial pressure, and stressful timelines. Disagreements can arise with contractors, consultants, municipalities, partners, or tenants.

The question is not whether conflict will come—the question is how you will respond to it.

Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that wisdom is often demonstrated through restraint and gentleness. In tense situations, harsh responses usually intensify problems rather than solve them. But calm, thoughtful communication creates space for resolution.

Handling conflict wisely does not mean avoiding difficult conversations. Healthy leadership addresses issues honestly and directly. Yet wisdom shapes the spirit in which those conversations occur.

When conflict arises, it helps to pause before reacting emotionally. Listen carefully. Seek understanding. Focus on resolution instead of winning. Ask yourself not only, “How do I prove my point?” but also, “How do I preserve relationships while pursuing truth?”

Jesus consistently responded to tension with wisdom and composure. Even when challenged unfairly, He remained grounded and purposeful.

Conflict handled poorly can damage trust and morale. Conflict handled wisely can strengthen relationships, clarify expectations, and build maturity within a team.

God can use even difficult situations to grow your leadership and deepen your dependence on Him.
