Wisdom in Knowing When to Move [Commercial Broker #142]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“Whoever observes the wind will not sow, and whoever regards the clouds will not reap.” — Ecclesiastes 11:4 (ESV)
Devotional
On the other side of caution is fear. Sometimes you and your clients can become so focused on risk that you never take faithful action. You keep “waiting for the perfect time,” but perfect never comes. Eventually, opportunity passes.
Wisdom is not paralysis. At some point, a decision must be made. Faithful stewardship sometimes means saying, “We’ve analyzed enough. It’s time to move.” No deal is risk-free, but some risks are reasonable and aligned with your client’s goals, capacities, and calling.
Fear often disguises itself as endless analysis. It sounds responsible, but beneath it is a refusal to trust God with uncertainty. Your role as a Christian broker can include gently saying, “We’ll never have every answer. Here’s what we know, here’s what we don’t, and here’s my recommendation.”
You help people sow and reap rather than watching the wind forever.
Reflection Questions
Where might fear be hiding behind “just a little more analysis” in my world right now?
How can I help clients discern when it’s time to stop studying and start acting?
Prayer
Father, guard me from both recklessness and paralysis. Give me courage to move when it’s time, trusting You with the unknowns. Amen.
