Wisdom in Knowing When You Need Counsel [Commercial Broker #158]

Scripture

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” — Proverbs 15:22 (NIV)

Devotional

Even the most experienced broker encounters situations beyond their skill or perspective—legal complexity, environmental issues, political challenges, or financial structures outside their lane. Wisdom recognizes when you need help.

Pride says, “I can figure it out.” Wisdom says, “I need a counselor.” That might be an attorney, engineer, senior broker, mentor, or trusted peer. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of maturity and humility.

Your clients are better served when you seek counsel than when you protect your ego. And God is honored when you steward your influence responsibly by integrating the gifts He has placed around you.

When you invite wise advisers into your process, your decisions—and your integrity—grow stronger.

Reflection Questions

Is there a situation right now where I’ve been avoiding counsel out of pride or busyness?

Who has God placed in my world that I should reach out to for wisdom?

Prayer

Father, give me humility to seek counsel and wisdom to recognize when I need it. Surround me with people who sharpen, guide, and protect me. Amen.
