Wisdom in Protecting Your Heart from Greed [Commercial Broker #157]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“Keep your life free from love of money and be content with what you have.” — Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)
Devotional
Few things test a broker’s heart like the potential of a large commission. Even mature Christians can feel subtle shifts when big money comes into view—judgment blurs, patience thins, pressure rises, and motives get tangled.
Greed is not always loud; often it whispers. It tells you to force a deal God isn’t in, to overlook red flags, to rush instead of advise, or to put personal gain ahead of client welfare. But Scripture warns that the love of money is a trap.
Wisdom protects your heart by reminding you:
God—not this deal—is your Provider.
Your worth is not measured by your production.
No commission is worth compromising your integrity.
Contentment frees you to counsel truthfully.
When greed loses its grip, you negotiate with clarity, advise with honesty, and steward opportunities without fear.
Reflection Questions
How do large commissions affect my thinking, emotions, or behavior—subtly or overtly?
What truths from Scripture help me fight greed and embrace contentment?
Prayer
Lord, guard my heart from the love of money. Make me content in You so that every decision I make flows from faith, not financial pressure. Amen.
