Wisdom in Yielding to God’s Final Answer [Commercial Broker #160]

Scripture

“Not my will, but yours, be done.” — Luke 22:42 (ESV)

Devotional

One of the hardest parts of deal-making is surrendering the outcome to God. You can research, analyze, advise, negotiate, and lead with excellence—but the final answer may still be “no,” “not yet,” or “not this way.” Yielding your will to God’s will is the highest expression of wisdom.

Jesus prayed this in the garden—an honest, raw submission. Not resignation, but trust. He modeled a posture that says, “Father, I desire this—but I desire You more.”

You may deeply want a deal to close—for your client’s good, for your work’s sake, for your financial stability. But if you cling too tightly, you risk turning the outcome into an idol. Wisdom says:“I will work with excellence…I will pray with faith…But I will rest in Your will.”

Yielding doesn’t weaken your work ethic; it purifies your motives. It protects your heart from despair when a door closes and keeps you aligned with God’s larger plan—one you cannot yet see.

Reflection Questions

What outcome in my work right now is hardest for me to surrender to God’s will?

What would change in my heart if I honestly prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done”?

Prayer

Father, I surrender the outcomes I’m holding tightly. Help me echo Jesus’ words—“Not my will, but Yours”—and trust that Your plans are always wiser and better than mine. Amen.
