Wisdom That Produces Peace [Real Estate Dev #188]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason.” — James 3:17.
Devotional
Not all clever decisions are wise decisions.
A strategy may maximize leverage, win a negotiation, or produce a higher return and still create unnecessary conflict or compromise.
James describes God's wisdom as pure, peaceable, gentle, and open to reason.
That description provides a valuable test for leadership decisions.
Does the decision require deception?
Does it unnecessarily damage relationships?
Have you become unwilling to listen?
Are you forcing an outcome primarily because you have the power to do so?
Biblical wisdom considers more than technical success.
It considers character and consequences.
Peace does not mean avoiding every disagreement. Development involves legitimate conflicts of interest.
But wise leadership seeks resolution without creating unnecessary hostility.
Sometimes the most profitable short-term decision creates relational costs that last for years.
A wise developer therefore asks not only, “Can I win this?”
But also, “What will this decision leave behind?”
Wisdom from God produces outcomes you can live with spiritually as well as financially.
When possible, pursue solutions that combine truth, fairness, stewardship, and peace.
Reflection Questions
Do my decisions tend to create unnecessary conflict?
Am I genuinely open to reason when others disagree?
What current issue could benefit from a more peaceable approach?
Action Step
Revisit one disagreement and identify whether there is a solution that protects legitimate interests while also strengthening the relationship.
Prayer
Lord, give me wisdom from above—pure, peaceable, gentle, and open to reason. Help my decisions reflect Your character as well as sound judgment. Amen.
