Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:18 — “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth…”
Devotional
Your job is a channel of provision, but God is the Source. It’s easy to reverse those—trusting in the paycheck, employer, or industry instead of the Lord. Scripture reminds you to “remember the Lord your God,” who gives you the ability, health, opportunities, and favor to work.
Seeing God as Provider guards your heart from fear when circumstances change—a restructuring, slow season, or unexpected transition. Your security is not anchored in your position; it is anchored in your Provider. At the same time, it keeps you humble when things go well. Success becomes a reason for gratitude, not pride.
Your work matters deeply, but it is not ultimate. It is one of the ways God meets needs, blesses families, supports ministries, and funds Kingdom work. When you view your income as provision from God, you’re freed to be thankful, generous, and at peace.
Reflection Questions:
In what ways have you been tempted to view your job as the ultimate source of security?
How has God provided for you—often in ways beyond your own effort?
How might remembering God as Provider change your attitude toward income, saving, and giving?
Prayer
Father, thank You for being my Provider. Help me trust You above any paycheck or position. Use my work as a channel of Your provision and teach me to steward what You give with gratitude and generosity. Amen.
