Work as Worship [Real Estate Dev #7]

Scripture: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23 (ESV)

Devotional

Work becomes worship not through perfection, but through surrender. Colossians 3:23 invites you to see every task—meetings, planning, negotiations—as service rendered to the Lord Himself. This perspective transforms motivation. Excellence is no longer about image or competition; it becomes an expression of reverence.

When your work is worship, diligence flows naturally. You plan carefully because God values stewardship. You act honestly because God delights in truth. You persevere because your labor honors Him. Even mundane tasks take on meaning when they are offered to God with humility and faith.

Viewing work as worship also reshapes frustration. Challenges no longer feel pointless; they become invitations to trust God more deeply. Success becomes gratitude rather than self-congratulation. Failure becomes dependence rather than despair.

This does not remove difficulty, but it anchors purpose. Each day, you have the opportunity to place your work on the altar—not symbolically, but practically—by inviting God into decisions, priorities, and relationships. When you do, your work reflects His presence in the marketplace.

Reflection Questions:

  • Do I approach my work as service to God or obligation to others?

  • How does worship change my attitude toward difficult tasks?

  • What part of my work needs to be more intentionally surrendered to God?

Prayer:

Lord, receive my work as worship. Help me honor You through diligence, integrity, and humility in all I do. May my labor reflect Your glory. Amen.

This devotional is designed to encourage you as you live out your faith in the workplace. It works best when paired with regular time in Scripture, prayer, and worship—the rhythms through which we grow to know Christ more deeply and become more like Him.
