Scripture: Genesis 1:31 — “And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.”
Devotional
When God surveyed all His creative work, He declared it “very good.” His labor produced beauty, order, and life. Because you are made in His image, your work—rightly viewed—can also be good. Not perfect. Not always easy. But good.
Many people believe work is a necessary evil, something to endure until retirement or the weekend. But Scripture paints a different picture. Work is part of God’s good creation, an avenue through which humans experience purpose, joy, and partnership with Him.
Even in a fallen world, glimpses of this goodness remain. The satisfaction of solving a problem. The joy of helping someone. The beauty of a job well done. The relief of providing for your family. The blessing of meaningful contribution.
Work becomes draining when we detach it from God’s design. But when we align our work with His purpose, even ordinary tasks can become expressions of worship and gratitude.

Prayer
Lord, remind me today that work is a good gift from You. Restore my joy in what I do. Help me see the value and purpose in every task You place before me. Amen.
