Work That Points to the Kingdom [TDPOW #22]

Scripture: Matthew 5:16 — “…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Devotional

Your work is one of the primary ways your light shines in the world. When you do your job with integrity, kindness, excellence, and humility, people notice—even if they don’t fully understand why you’re different. Your “good works” at work point beyond you to your Father in heaven.

This doesn’t require a platform or a microphone. It happens in simple, consistent faithfulness: telling the truth when a lie would be easier, taking responsibility for mistakes, showing grace under pressure, refusing to participate in gossip, honoring others with your words. These choices are bright lights in a dark world.

Your goal is not to draw attention to yourself but to reflect Christ. As you live out your faith through your work, you quietly testify that there is a King and a Kingdom worth living for.

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what ways does your work currently reflect the light of Christ?

  2. Are there habits or attitudes that dim that light?

  3. What is one specific way you can let your light shine at work this week?

Prayer

Father, let my work today point people to You. May my actions, words, and decisions shine with the light of Christ. Use my life at work to bring glory to Your name. Amen.
