Scripture: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” — Mark 8:36 (ESV)
Devotional
Commercial brokerage often celebrates production—top producers, top closers, biggest deals, highest volume. Recognition is motivating, but it can subtly shift your focus from purpose to profit, from calling to competition.
Jesus’ question pierces through the noise: What does it profit you to close the biggest deal if it costs your integrity? What does it gain you to climb the rankings but lose your peace, joy, or witness?
Profit is not wrong—but it is not the purpose. You are called to steward your gifts, influence, clients, and opportunities for something bigger than revenue: the Kingdom. Deals are temporary. Souls are eternal. When you keep that perspective, you navigate success with humility and setbacks with grace.
Reflection Questions:
· Where am I tempted to measure success by worldly metrics instead of Kingdom metrics?
· What might God be asking me to surrender so I can pursue purpose over pressure?
Prayer:
Lord, align my ambitions with Your heart. Guard me from idolizing success, and help me pursue a life marked by eternal impact. Amen.
