Storing Treasures in Heaven

Scripture: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:19-20)

Reflection:

The world often measures success by wealth, possessions, and accolades. While these things provide temporary satisfaction, Jesus reminds us that they do not last. Instead, He calls us to invest in treasures that endure—acts of faith, love, generosity, and service.

Storing treasures in heaven doesn’t mean abandoning earthly responsibilities. It means approaching them with an eternal perspective. Your work, when done with integrity and for God’s glory, becomes a tool for building His kingdom. Generosity, mentoring, and sharing your faith create ripple effects that impact lives for eternity.

Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:19-20 challenge us to examine where we place our priorities. Are we striving for temporary rewards or eternal ones? Treasures in heaven reflect the impact of a life lived for God—relationships nurtured, souls encouraged, and faith shared.

As you evaluate your goals and achievements, consider how they align with God’s mission. Redirect your focus from fleeting gains to eternal investments, trusting that your efforts for Him carry everlasting value.

Application Question / Challenge:

What earthly “treasures” might be distracting you from investing in eternity? Commit to one action this week that builds lasting treasures in heaven.

Prayer:

Father, teach me to value what truly matters. Help me to focus on eternal treasures and to live in a way that reflects Your love and advances Your kingdom. Amen.
