Legacy Beyond the Ledger [Financial Advisor #10]

Scripture: “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children…” — Proverbs 13:22a

Devotional

Legacy is a word financial advisors use often—but what kind of legacy are we really building? The world defines it in terms of assets and estate plans. Scripture adds more: character, faith, influence, and spiritual inheritance.

Yes, you help clients build wealth. But more importantly, you can help them build purpose. What will outlast their portfolios? How are they impacting future generations—not just with dollars, but with values?

Encourage clients to think not only of inheritance, but of investment—in people, in ministries, in lives changed by generosity. And as you think about your own legacy, ask God to shape it around what will matter most in eternity.

We are all writing a story with our work. Let it be one that leads others closer to Christ.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What kind of legacy are you helping your clients build—beyond the numbers?

  2. How can you gently point clients toward spiritual and relational investments?

  3. What do you want your own professional legacy to reflect?

Prayer

Father, teach me to value what lasts. Let my work sow seeds that outlive me—seeds of faith, wisdom, and love. Shape my legacy to reflect Your heart.

This devotional is designed to encourage you as you live out your faith in the workplace. It works best when paired with regular time in Scripture, prayer, and worship—the rhythms through which we grow to know Christ more deeply and become more like Him.
