Seeing Potential Through God’s Eyes [Real Estate Dev #3]

Scripture: “The Lord does not see as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7b (ESV)

Devotional

Developers are trained to see potential where others see limitation. A vacant lot, an aging building, or an overlooked neighborhood represents possibility. Yet Scripture reminds us that God’s vision reaches even deeper than physical potential. He sees not only what can be built, but what can be redeemed.

God’s way of seeing challenges purely financial or aesthetic evaluation. He looks at impact—how places will serve people, foster community, and promote dignity. When developers adopt God’s perspective, projects become more than investments; they become opportunities for stewardship.

This does not mean ignoring feasibility or risk. It means allowing faith to shape discernment. God may lead you toward projects that bless others even if they require patience, creativity, or restraint. His vision balances profitability with purpose.

Seeing through God’s eyes also affects how you view people. City officials, contractors, lenders, and tenants are not obstacles or tools; they are image-bearers. When you honor their dignity, your work reflects the heart of God.

Ask the Lord to refine your vision—not just to see what is profitable, but what is purposeful. When your eyes align with His, your developments become instruments of blessing.

Reflection Questions:

  • Do I evaluate projects primarily through financial metrics or Kingdom impact?

  • How might God be inviting me to see people differently in my work?

  • What project requires prayerful discernment right now?

Prayer

Lord, help me see as You see. Shape my vision with wisdom and compassion so my work reflects Your heart. Amen.

This devotional is intended to help you integrate your faith into your daily work and calling. It is not a substitute for personal time with God in Scripture, prayer, and worship, which are essential for knowing Christ, loving Him deeply, and becoming more like Him.
